MOOGU designs jewellery to last a lifetime but to keep it looking as beautiful and as new as the day you bought it take care when wearing, storing and cleaning your jewellery.

CARE AND CLEANING

Most of our gold jewellery is made with 14 carat gold but for the jewellery made with 18 carat gold you need to treated with care due to the purity of the metal because it is quite soft. Also, you should treated with care the jewellery made from silver, silver it is a metal quite soft, as well. Protect the jewellery from blows, water contact, perfumes, detergents and other products or chemicals that could cause displacement of the stones or crystals.

Silver jewellery will be stored in individual jewellery boxes, in a dry place away from the kitchen, bathroom or shower in order to prevent their contact with moisture and heat, because they might oxidaze. Try to not wear your jewellery in the shower or pool as the chlorine will tarnish it.

The 925 silver jewellery which are Rhodium untreated, can oxidize (get darken) in contact with moisture or excessive heat. This is a natural property of silver and is not considered a defect. Clean your silver jewelry without stones by using bicarbonate/baking soda or with special solutions for cleaning silver in order to restore their brilliance.

The metal, the setting and the stones can be damaged by sharp and powerfull impacts that can occur when working with your hands, doing exercise etc. It is therefore best to wear your jewellery on your non-leading hand and remove them if you know you are about to embark on an activity that may expose them to risk.

Pearls and gemstones should be protected from the alcohol or acids in make-up, perfume and hairspray. Always put your jewellery on last, after your perfume has dried.

Jewellery should be cleaned with nothing stronger than very mild soapy water and a soft toothbrush, while semiprecious gemstones and pearls require only warm water.

There is no need to clean pearls - the natural oils on your skin will help maintain their lustre. Even very mild detergent may damage their delicate coating.

If your piece breaks or is damaged, do get in touch with us. We want you to be very happy with your MOOGU piece.

RHODIUM PLATING

Some of our gold and silver jewellery are plated with rhodium.

Store your rhodium plated jewellery in its own pocket or pouch of a jewellery box or wallet to prevent it getting scratched. If your pieces start to look tired then bring them to us for re-plating, at a nominal cost, to restore their shine and colour.

GEMSTONE CARE

Although gemstones are some of the hardest natural materials in the world, the cut and setting can make them vulnerable. Gemstones are more susceptible to damage when hot, so avoid wearing jewellery at the pool, to the beach, where the sea salt, sun and sand could easily mar the appearance of your gems.
