JEWELRY MAINTENANCE
MOOGU creates jewelry to last a lifetime, but to keep the jewelry looking as new as on the first day, be careful how you wear, store, and clean your jewelry.
CARE AND CLEANING
Most of our gold jewelry is made from 14-carat gold, but jewelry made from 18-carat gold should be handled with care due to the metal's purity, as it is quite soft. You should also handle your silver jewelry with care, as silver is also a fairly soft metal. Protect your jewelry from impacts, contact with water, perfumes, detergents, and other products or chemicals that could cause the stones or crystals to shift.
Silver jewelry will be stored in individual jewelry boxes, in a dry place away from the kitchen, bathroom, or shower, to prevent contact with moisture and heat from oxidizing. Try not to wear jewelry in the shower or pool, as chlorine will attack it.
925 silver jewelry that is not rhodium-treated can oxidize when in contact with moisture or excessive heat. This is a natural property of silver and is not considered a defect. Clean silver jewelry without stones using baking soda or special silver cleaning solutions to restore their shine.
The metal, the setting of the stones, and the stones can be affected by strong impacts that may occur when working with your hands, exercising, etc. It is better to take them off if you are about to engage in an activity that may expose them to risk.
Pearls and precious stones must be protected from alcohol or acids in makeup, perfume, and hair spray. Always put on jewelry last, after your perfume has dried.
Jewelry should only be cleaned with very mild soapy water and a soft toothbrush, while semi-precious stones and pearls require only warm water.
There is no need to clean pearls - the natural oils from your skin will help keep them shiny. Even soap can damage their delicate nacre layer.
If your piece breaks or is damaged, contact us.
RHODIUM PLATING
Some of our gold and silver jewelry is rhodium-plated. Keep rhodium-plated jewelry in a jewelry box or pouch to prevent scratching, and if your pieces start to look worn, you can bring them to us to be re-rhodium plated, at a nominal cost, and thus restore their shine and color.
CARE OF STONES
Although precious stones are among the hardest natural materials in the world, cutting and polishing can make them vulnerable. Precious stones are more likely to be damaged when hot, avoid wearing jewelry at the pool, at the beach, where sea salt, sun, and sand could easily ruin their appearance.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE
Jewelry must be specially protected to benefit from it for as long as possible. This means that it must be kept away from impacts, contact with water, perfumes, detergents, and other products or chemicals that could cause the stones or crystals to detach or wear out.
As such, you should avoid washing your hands while wearing rings with stones, when cleaning, performing other household activities, or when you are at the pool. It is also recommended to remove them when practicing sports, especially contact sports. Before going to bed, do not forget to take off jewelry with stones as they can get caught or deform during sleep.
Diamonds or other precious stones and their settings fall under the scope of this warranty/authenticity certificate as long as the provisions regarding how to wear or use them are respected: without mechanical shocks, without contact with hard surfaces and/or sharp objects, without chemical agents.
Avoid spraying perfume or hairspray over earrings, pendants, or necklaces. Semi-precious stones or crystals require special care. They should be kept away from light and excessive heat as they can change color, crack, or become irreparably damaged.
Silver jewelry should be stored individually in jewelry boxes, in dry places away from the kitchen, bathroom, or shower, to avoid contact with moisture and heat and to prevent oxidation.
Uncoated 925 silver jewelry can oxidize (turn black) when in contact with moisture or excessive heat. This is a natural property of silver and is not considered a defect. Clean silver jewelry without stones with baking soda or special solutions for cleaning silver to restore their shine.
For the care of jewelry and to maintain their shine, we recommend using a soft cloth specifically for cleaning them.
The gold from which MOOGU jewelry is made can be yellow, white, or pink. Gold is obtained through an alloy with a mix of metals that gives it its specific hue. To enhance the shine of white gold jewelry, they are coated with white rhodium. The rhodium layer can wear off in 3-6 months, and the jewelry may lose its luster. The same applies to the patina of jewelry with black rhodium. This patina will wear off in 3-6 months.
Our jewelry is marked in accordance with its own warranty mark and title mark, which is authorized by the National Authority for Consumer Protection - Precious Metals Directorate.
Depending on the degree of use, we recommend that the jewelry be examined and cleaned by a jeweler at least once a year.
The warranty provided does not cover damage caused to the jewelry due to non-compliance with the above-mentioned instructions, accidents, negligence, improper use, or other factors unrelated to material or workmanship defects.
