The tennis bracelet, a timeless piece of jewelry ideal for any occasion

When did the tennis bracelet appear?

It seems that the tennis bracelet has always been among the favorites of jewelry lovers, even before it was known by this name. Its popularity is due to the fact that it is a versatile piece that can be worn on almost any occasion, from casual events to more formal parties, such as weddings. Previously known as the 'eternity bracelet', the tennis bracelet earned its nickname during the 1987 U.S. Open tennis championship. Chris Evert, one of the greatest female tennis players in history, started her match with a tennis bracelet on her wrist when, at one point, she realized it was missing from her wrist. The tennis player stopped the match to search for her bracelet, and from that moment on, the popularity of the tennis bracelet grew impressively.

What is the difference between a tennis bracelet and other types of bracelets?

The tennis bracelet is a flexible piece of jewelry with small gemstones, usually diamonds, set in symmetrical, continuous links along the length of a fine metal chain. Normally, the tennis bracelet does not include Pandora-style charms or other sparkling adornments. However, many jewelers have redefined the tennis bracelet, which can be any narrow bracelet with a repetitive pattern of diamonds and metals, including bracelets that contain gemstones and metal accents.

What is the style of a tennis bracelet?

There are four factors that can influence the style of a tennis bracelet:

Gemstones: While diamonds are almost always used, the bracelet can also include other semi-precious stones.
Shape of the gemstones: Round diamonds are the most commonly used, although emerald-cut and princess-cut stones can also be used in creating a tennis bracelet.
Metals: Most tennis bracelet designs are made from yellow or white gold, but rose gold can also be used occasionally. Platinum is sometimes used in creating heavier and more valuable bracelets to ensure additional security.
Setting: The traditional setting with four small prongs is the most common setting for tennis bracelets because it minimizes the amount of metal that can be seen.
Just as it can be worn on any occasion, the tennis bracelet can also be the perfect gift for any occasion, whether it's a birthday gift, an anniversary, International Women's Day or Mother's Day, a wedding, or even for an expectant mother at a baby shower.
